First 5k tomorrow
First 5k tomorrow followed by a day shopping at NYC holiday markets :) the only thing better would be if my wife wasn’t leaving for Chicago on Monday
The final stages of the paint job and the start of assembly.
I ended up using an automotive clear coat for the final touches.
The start of assembly has been a little tricky since newer parts don’t like to fit into older frames. So far I have had to widen the rear to get the back tire in and I had to drill larger holes for the brakes.
Tomorrow I need to true the rear wheel and install the shifting cables. The goal is to have it done before the wife gets home from her business trip tomorrow night.
First layer of paint. I’m putting down 4 light layers of the dark blue and then later a light blue-green over it this weekend.

The start of the paint job.
I’ve spent months dreaming of this day. After hand scrapping and prepping my Craigslist special bike frame for months it is now time to paint it. I was originally going to paint it outside but the weather decided not to cooperate so I made a makeshift paint both in my moms garage.
I laid down the primer today - 3 coats of Rustoleum painters touch primer - and used a paint sprayer to apply it. I was going to use spray cans but my wife (future owner of the bike) wanted a specific color that I couldn’t find in a spray paint that I liked. Tomorrow I’ll add the first color - a navy using exterior house paint - followed by the second color this weekend and the top coat next. I’ll post more pictures as the come along.
This is totally me
